About the Lab Design Conference
The 2027 Lab Design Conference takes place May 10–13, 2027, in Dallas, Texas, at the Hyatt Regency Dallas.
The conference is designed for the professionals who plan, design, engineer, build, operate, manage, and use laboratory environments.
Attendees include architects, engineers, lab planners, construction and project professionals, facility and capital planning leaders, lab managers, scientists, researchers, and other laboratory end users.
Expect several days of education, exploration, and connection centered around the design and operation of laboratory environments.
The conference combines educational sessions, an interactive exhibit hall, networking experiences, workshops, and behind-the-scenes lab tours, bringing together perspectives from across the laboratory project lifecycle.

The 2027 speaker lineup brings together professionals from across laboratory design, engineering, construction, facilities, operations, research, and other areas of the laboratory community.
The conference dress code is business casual.
Temperatures can vary throughout the hotel and meeting spaces, so we recommend dressing in layers and bringing a sweater, cardigan, or light jacket to stay comfortable throughout the day.
Lab tour participants should note that individual facilities may have additional dress or safety requirements. Specific instructions will be emailed to registered tour attendees before the tours.

Optional purchase protection is available during checkout for a small additional fee.
Purchase protection provides a 100% refund of your covered purchase if you are prevented from attending due to a qualifying unforeseen circumstance, subject to the terms and conditions of the protection.

Yes. Bring your colleagues and save on conference registration:
3–4 attendees: Save $100 per person
5–9 attendees: Save $150 per person

Attending as a group also makes it easier to divide sessions, explore more of the program, and bring a wider range of ideas back to your organization.
Yes. Your conference badge is required for access to all Lab Design Conference activities and may not be shared with another person.
If your badge is lost during the event, visit the conference registration desk for assistance with a replacement.
Attendees can indicate dietary restrictions when completing their conference registration.
The conference team uses this information when planning meals and refreshments, so please provide your dietary requirements when registering.
Program + Add-Ons
Build Your Conference Experience
The program explores the projects, challenges, technologies, and ideas shaping laboratory environments.
Sessions bring together perspectives from architecture, engineering, lab planning, construction, facilities, operations, research, and other areas of laboratory design and use.
Yes. AIA continuing education credits are available for all educational sessions, with select sessions also eligible for HSW credit.
Specific credit information will be included with individual session details.
Following the conference, attendees seeking AIA continuing education credit will need to complete the required forms. Additional instructions will be provided to attendees at the conference.
Presentation slides are typically shared with registered attendees approximately one week before the conference, when available.
This gives attendees an opportunity to review session materials and prepare for the educational program before arriving in Dallas.
Workshops
Plan Your Workshop Experience
Three workshops will take place on Monday, May 10, from 2:30–4:30 PM at the Hyatt Regency Dallas. Workshops cost $215 each and require a separate add-on ticket.
No. All three workshops take place at the same time, so attendees must select one.
Workshops do not have the same strict transportation-based capacity restrictions as lab tours.
Advance registration is still encouraged so your complete conference experience is confirmed before you arrive in Dallas.
Yes. Workshops are approved for AIA continuing education credit. Specific credit information will be included with each workshop once confirmed.
Lab Tours
Plan your lab tour experience
All three lab tours take place on Thursday, May 13, 2027.
The University of North Texas at Dallas STEM Building and Dallas County Health and Human Services BSL-3 Laboratory tours depart at 9:00 AM and return at approximately 11:30 AM. Attendees may select one morning tour.
The BioLabs Pegasus Park + Bridge Labs tour takes place in the afternoon. Exact timing and departure information will be emailed to registered tour attendees before the tour.
Yes—with one important limitation.
The two morning tours take place at the same time, so attendees must choose one morning tour.
You can then add the separate afternoon tour, allowing you to participate in up to two lab tours during the day.
Each lab tour costs $225 per person.
If you choose one morning tour and the afternoon tour, the total cost is $450 per person.
Yes. Lab tours have strict capacities based on available transportation and may sell out.
If a lab tour is an important part of your conference experience, we strongly recommend purchasing your ticket as early as possible to secure your spot.
Yes. Transportation to and from each tour location is included with your lab tour ticket.
Registered tour attendees will receive an email a few days before the tours with meeting and departure instructions, transportation details, timing, and other important information.

Travel + Hotel
Planning your trip to Dallas
Educational sessions, workshops, the exhibit hall, networking events, and other onsite conference activities take place at the Hyatt Regency Dallas.
Lab tours take place offsite at participating laboratory facilities throughout the Dallas area. Transportation to and from tour locations is included with each lab tour ticket.
The Hyatt Regency Dallas is both the official conference venue and hotel, making it easy to stay close to sessions, the exhibit hall, networking, and other conference activities.
Yes. Lab Design Conference attendees can book rooms within the official hotel block for $249 per night, subject to availability.
The conference room block closes April 20, 2027, or earlier if the block sells out.
Booking early is strongly recommended.
You must reserve your room through the official Lab Design Conference hotel booking link to access the conference rate and be included in the official room block.

Design Excellence Awards
Recognizing outstanding laboratory design
The Design Excellence Awards recognize outstanding laboratory projects and the collaborative teams whose vision, expertise, and execution bring exceptional environments to life.
Project submissions open October 12, 2026.
All entries must be submitted by December 4, 2026.
Eligible facilities must have been completed and occupied between January 1, 2025 and January 1, 2027.
Eligible laboratory projects may be located anywhere in the world.
The four 2027 Design Excellence Award categories are:
– Whole Building / Holistic Design
– Sustainable Design
– Interior Design
– Small Project Design
