Chris Ertl, AIA, LEED BD+C, MBA, Associate Principle, is an architect and laboratory planner at the Clarke Enersen Partners. Chris is a nationally recognized laboratory planner and licensed architect with more than 20 years of experience leading clients in the programming, planning and design of complex laboratory environments. A frequent speaker and author of several articles on lab design trends and sustainable labs, Chris has designed more than 100 lab environments. He has a sustainability minded focus in his approach to lab design and currently serves on the International Institute for Sustainable Labs HOA Board. A collaborative team player, he is dedicated to improve the laboratory users experience to help them be more productive and improve outcomes.
Chris graduated from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln with a BS in Architecture Studies and also earned his MBA and Master of Architecture from the same university. His dual architecture and MBA degrees afford him a unique perspective in developing laboratories that are designed to increase productivity and performance outcomes within a client’s budgetary requirements. Chris is a member of the American Institute of Architects, I2SL and the United States Green Building Council.
