Robert Benson, Design Principal, CannonDesign, is a design leader for the firm. Regarded for his ability to leverage design to empower clients, he brings a conceptual mind with an eye towards value to each assignment. Having taught as an adjunct professor for eight years, Robert leads with a studio-driven philosophy and a strong belief in mentorship. With his distinct voice and influential design, Robert has won numerous accolades including many AIA and IIDA design awards. Highly adaptable, Robert’s design expertise is informed by a broad range of project typologies: commercial shell and core, workplace interiors, science and technology, urban design, higher education, K-12 and cultural projects. His current project for Johns Hopkins University, Applied Physics Laboratory, Laurel, MD, is a 260,000 GSF interdisciplinary research facility that will provide the Research and Exploratory Development Department with flexible, open laboratories in a highly collaborative, open workplace environment.
