Chris Ertl, AIA, LEED BD+C, is an architect and senior laboratory planner in CRB’s Science & Technology group. Chris has over 20 years of project management and laboratory planning and design experience nationwide. A frequent speaker on sustainable labs and trends in laboratory planning and design, Chris has a detailed understanding of state-of-the-art design concepts and their impact on building systems. Each project opportunity builds on his significant design research and understanding of how a building design can impact productivity within the lab and improve research and learning outcomes.
Chris graduated from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln with a Bachelor of Science in Architecture Studies and also earned his Master of Business Administration and Master of Architecture from the same university. His dual architecture and MBA degrees afford him a unique perspective in developing laboratories that are designed to increase productivity and performance outcomes within a client’s budgetary requirements. He has assisted a number of institutions across the country in their pre-planning, master planning and feasibility studies, developing business cases for new facility improvements.
Chris is a member of the American Institute of Architects, I2SL and the United States Green Building Council. He has given many presentations and has been published for his expertise in laboratory design and university programming and planning.
