Katherine Everett, PE, LEED AP, is a principal who leads the mechanical engineering team at SMRT Architects and Engineers. Among other projects, Kate recently master planned a major laboratory facility for a globally renowned life sciences organization. With more than two decades of experience, Kate has a special interest in designing mechanical systems that are “green for a reason”—providing sustainable, energy efficient designs that are cost-effective and operationally sound. She writes a column for Controlled Environments magazine called “Ask the Facilities Gal,” offering practical approaches to engineering controlled environments. Kate holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Union College. She speaks frequently on designing for specialty environments in healthcare and science/technology.
